Our Program
The Olympic Peninsula HomeConnection (OPHC) program is an alternative educational experience. Students are enrolled as full-time public school students, while learning at home. The Crescent School District HomeConnection program is designed to provide families of K-8 students the opportunity to combine the best aspects of home-schooled learning with the opportunities public education offers.

What we Offer
OPHC students are enrolled in the Crescent School District and choose from a variety of workshops or field trip experiences that support and supplement their home school education. These workshops are offered on Thursdays at the First United Methodist Church on 7th St in Port Angeles for our Clallam County students and on Wednesdays at San Juan Baptist Church on Discovery Rd. in Port Townsend for our Jefferson County students. Parents remain onsite with their children during these workshops. Parental involvement is stressed and support for families is an integral part of the program. OPHC offers a wide variety of curriculum to assist with the educational needs of students.

Our Vision & Mission
We believe that parents have ultimate responsibility for their child's education and are their primary instructor. Parents have an inherent right to partner with public and private education programs to provide the best possible education for their children in a safe, professional, family-friendly environment. Our mission is to build a partnership with families by providing opportunities for families to enrich each child's learning experience.
Creativity
Our parent partnership program emphasizes creative educational experiences which evolve throughout the year to meet parent and student interests. In our workshops both certificated teachers, community members and parents offer a wide variety of classes such as: ceramics, creative writing, drama, guitar, Lego-robotics, choir, PE, cooking, Science and Art, Core Math to new a few. Those in our Excursion Program get out weekly to experience incredible opportunities such as visiting an Audubon Center, hiking a perfect trail on the Peninsula, or going to Seattle for Children's Theatre.

One of our defining elements at OPHC is community. Often homeschoolers can feel unconnected. Kids can miss out on social events and parents taking responsibility for their children's education can feel isolated. At OPHC, parents are participating with their children all the time. This provides an instant community of families working, playing and learning together. Over 100 children from K-8th grade are currently enrolled in our programs, providing a great network of families who volunteer time, care about each other and work cooperatively to provide wonderful events and learning experiences for our children.
